Marsilea mutica
"Water Fern"
LHBC 824
Family: Marsileaceae
Native to: Australia and New Caledonia
AQUATIC FERN! Although it resembles a clover plant, this is a true fern. Unlike most ferns, where spores are found in specialized structures on the leaves, the spores of Marsilea are in sporocarps that are found attached to the plant below ground level.
Horticultural notes: An emergent aquatic fern, best cultivated in very wet soil or even submerged. This species is hardy in central New York State.
