TROPICAL LIANA. One of the largest flowered Aristolochias. These flowers are pollinated by flies, which are attracted to the carrion-like odor and rotting flesh like coloration of the flower. Flies are "trapped" for a period of time in the flower, then released when the orifice relaxes. The released flies carry pollen to the next flower! | |
Horticultural notes: Grown only in greenhouses or in tropical zones. |
