STEM SUCCULENT EPIPHYTE. Yes, true cacti sometimes grow in trees. Epiphytes face similar problems of drought and dessication that are encountered by desert plants. Thus, succulence is a common adaptation in epiphytes and some groups such as cacti and bromeliads are found in both habitats.
