CARNIVOROUS. See a video here. Nepenthes, like other carnivorous pitcher plants, catch prey with a "pitfall" mechanism in modified leaves (pitchers).
Horticultural notes: Nepenthes, like other carnivorous plants, should be grown in low-nutrient potting medium and should not be fertilized. Distilled water is best for watering. If grown inside, a fwe small insects may be occasionally put in the pitchers.
