Native to: Sub-tropical woodlands of Southeast Asia north to Japan
A small, compact member of the coffee family. The fused corollas and inferior ovary, with opposite leaves and modified stipules, are typical of Rubiaceae.
Horticultural notes: Popular as a Bonsai Tree because of the small leaves and ability to produce a gnarled trunk. Flowers often in cultivation.
