This monotypic genus along with Streptochaeta are considered by many to be among the earliest diverging grass lineages and possess many unusual characterisitics for grasses. Note how the stamens emerge out of a tube-like structure (corniculate upper bract) on the spikelets. |
Horticultural notes: Grow in partial shade and keep soil moist. Tropical grass, not frost tolerant. |
