""
LHBC 476
Family: Amborellaceae
Native to: New Caledonia. Found in wet tropical forests.
Considered to be the first, ancient branch of Flowering Plant evolution, Amborella has attracted much attention in the last few years. Plants are unisexual, each plant producing either tiny male flowers only or tiny female flowers only (dioecious). The flowers are somewhat irregular, with more or less spiral arrangement of parts and no differentiation of sepals and petals.
Horticultural notes: 10. Tropical plant that cannot tolerate any frost. Not difficult if grown in well draining soil. Can be propagated by cuttings and seeds. Seeds should be scarified and kept in a warm and moist environment for germination.
