Family: Gnetaceae | |
Native to: Costa Rica, Panama
Previously considered a subspecies of G. urens. Our plant was grown from seed collected in January 1993 in the La Selva OTS reserve by the Cornell Tropical Plant Families course field trip taught by Kevin Nixon, with Bob Turgeon also along. The plants were never seen in the field, only the seed which was collected from the floor of the forest. A cutting of this plant or another collected at the same time was given to Peter Endress (Switzerland) around 2000.
Horticultural notes: Rare in cultivation. Ours has never produced reproductive parts. |
