This species is commonly cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions as an ornamental tree. Another species in this genus, Ceiba pentandra, is a common tree throughout the neotropics that can attain massive sizes. The seeds are covered in cottony fibers that have been used in pillows and mattresses as a hypoallergenic stuffing. | |
