Native to: West Indies (Caribbean); now widely distributed in the tropics and invasive in some area such as Hawaii.
Clusia is a hemiepiphyte - a plant that starts as an epiphyte, but sends roots to the forest floor. Used as an ornamental. Members of the family Clusiaceae is noteworthy for the thick, yellowish or whitish latex, which is mildly toxic. The leaves are often defaced by carving messages into the epidermis.
Horticultural notes: Widely planted in tropical zones and found in greenhouses and conservatories
