Arthur Allen was an American ornithologist, educated at Cornell University, and the founder (in 1915) of the Laboratory of Ornithology at Cornell University. Allen and his graduate students pioneered the recording of bird sounds in the wild. Allen's 1935 expedition to Louisiana made the last documented sighting of the Ivory Billed woodpecker. |
