Hendrik Adriaan van Rheede

Hendrik van Rheede was a Dutch naturalist employed in a military capacity by the Dutch East India Company. His Hortus Malabaricus (1678-1693) was a collaborative work of dozens of Indian and Dutch scholars with knowledge of medicinal properties of the flora of southwest India. Linnaeus cited this work in Genera Plantarum (1737).
