George Arnold was a horticulturalist based in New York. He attended Cornell as a student from 1876-1878 and was later given the position of superintendent of the seed farm and trial grounds at James Vick's Sons in Spencerport. Afterwards, he was in charge of several estates until his death. Throughout his career, he developed several new varieties of plants including varieties of sweet peas, asters, and the giant-flowered English cowslip (Primula veris 'Superba'), which became a popular plant during his time. |
