| Theodor Magnus Fries was a noted Swedish lichenologist and botanist, the son of botanist and mycologist Elias Magnus Fries, centered at the University of Uppsala. His magnum opus Lichenographia Scandinavica was published between 1871 and 1874. Like his father, he was a professor of botany and applied economics at Uppsala. His sons Robert and Thore both continued in the family tradition of academic botany. Fries' personal herbarium of Scandinavian and arctic plants and lichens was deposited at the Botanical Museum of the University of Uppsala. |
