Joseph William Adams

Joseph Adams was an American botanist and expert in the flora of Pennsylvania. He was mentored at a young age by the pteridologist Edgar T. Wherry and accompanied Wherry and botanist John Fogg on numerous collecting trips in the mid-Atlantic region. His collections contributed to the Atlas of the Flora of Pennsylvania, published by the Morris Arboretum in 1979. Adams became affiliated with the Morris Arboretum at its inception, serving first as Assistant in Taxonomy and later, Curator of the Herbarium. He was a co-founder with Dr. Wherry of the Bowmans Hill Wildflower Preserve in Bucks Hill, Pennsylvania.
