William Russell Anderson

William Anderson was an American botanist who specialized in the systematics and floristics of the Malpighiaceae. Anderson began his career at the New York Botanical Garden and was Professor of Botany and Curator of the Herbarium at the University of Michigan. He collected widely in Latin America and Mexico throughout his long career. Anderson and Rogers McVaugh collected together in the western Mexican region known as Novo-Galicia, and he served as general editor for eight volumes of the Flora Novo-Galicia.
